5 Signs You Need New Windows

HomeBlogUncategorized5 Signs You Need New Windows

Windows decorate homes. They let the sunlight in – hence, make homes brighter. Vivid. Happier. They also allow us to air rooms, but also isolate bad odors and noises that come from outdoors. All it takes is a single move. You close the window. Or open the window. It’s so simple, it’s terrific! And then a little problem occurs and who knows why, the window won’t close anymore with the same ease as it did before. Or a ball is accidentally (or not) thrown against your window smashing the glass and leaving you wondering whether to simply find a window glass replacement or get a new window altogether. Let us make your decision easier. Read the 5 signs that indicate it’s time to get new windows.

The window is damaged, warped, or chipped

How long has it been since the window installation? Stop counting years and think about that. Windows are main structural features and seldom replaced. But through the years, they wear. They become chipped, warped, and damaged depending on the material. Wood, for instance, would warp after years of use. And then, it depends on the window’s quality, how often it’s used, and also the local climate.

Sometimes, frame damage cannot be fixed. While some problems can be handled with window repair, some cannot. If you notice a problem with the frame, mold, rot, chipping and other similar issues, find a window supplier right away.

Opening and closing the window is a struggle

Some windows go up and down. Some slide, some open inwards. But whether you own sliding, awning, hopper, hung, or casement windows, you must be able to open and close them effortlessly. Also, you must be able to lock them. The truth is that some of these problems can often be fixed. Let’s take, for example, the locks. You may replace them, or even install better ones. But if you are struggling to open the window and put force to close it, there’s an indication of a more serious problem with the frame or mechanism.

There’s draft coming through the window

When you stand by the window and can feel the air draft, it’s time to find window installers with no delay. Such problems are serious because they increase your energy bills dramatically. So, you may discover that there’s a window leak if you notice that your energy bills have gone up lately without another apparent reason. If you cannot detect the window that causes the problem, light a candle and let smoke help you find the leak.

Now, what about if the window is relatively new but air still leaks? That can happen when the window is not sealed correctly or not installed properly. In this case, you may want to find a window repair company to take care of the problem.

The window doesn’t isolate the outdoor noise

Are your windows old? Chances are these are single pane windows. And if this is the case, there’s nothing good about them. They don’t isolate the noise, they don’t provide thermal insulation, and they are not energy efficient. Apart from protecting your wallet and increasing the energy efficiency of your home with new windows, isolating outdoor noises is equally important.

There’s condensation between the window glass panes

Condensation occurs when the cold drafts from outdoors meet with the warm air indoors. In such cases, the window glass gets foggy and you need to wipe them to see outside. That’s an indication of poor-quality glass. Often, condensation appears between glass panes. This happens when the windows are old, the seals are damaged and so, moisture finds its way in between the panes. In other words, a clear sign it’s time to find a window replacement.
